I was wondering if a set of 16x8 SLK Rims fit on my lowered 300E, and if I could use 205/55 tires on them.
Thanks FA22 |

The 16X8 wheels would not work properly on your car. The width is just a little to much for the w124 chassis

Luke...although I'm sure you get this question all the time...what about putting a pair of 8-hole 16"ers with 225/55's off a '95 SL on my '91 300E. No idea what the offset is...I think it is in the high 30's for my car. Think they will fit?

They won't work well, but they should fit. I've seen and heard of it being done before.

Any more details that you care to share? Is the tire size the confict or is there an offset problem with the wheel?
Thanx, Scott |

A little bit of both. But somehow, it defies all logic, and works with a 225/55/16. However, make sure that it beomces a 225/50/16 when you wear out the others. A 225/55/16 slows it down noticeably. Then, if you have a V8, put on 215/55/16. Otherwise, put on 225/50/16 (I only recommend that versus 205/55/16 due to rim width. 205 is too narrow for a 8 incher.).

Let's try one more...what about 7.5" 16's with a 51 offset, that came off a '92 S320...will that fit a 300E?

Scott,
I missed several of the recent posts because I have been very busy. I am finally catching up with most of them and, you car will not accept either of the wheels that you8 have mentioned the 1st one is due to extreme offset differences and the tire is also 1" to tall ... the second one does not either because of the brake clearance difference between the 2 cars and the 2" taller tire size.
