I am having a similar problem with reception in my '98 E300D. It seems when I am on open highway, I have a good signal. When I get in the city and around a lot of trees - I start losing signal. Also, when I have good signal and park it stays good. I think it is the antenna amp or the connections.

What is the best way to remove the sail panel? I don't want to break it or the connectors.

I travel for a living and don't have a garage. I usually take the car with me. So, I'll be doing this in a hotel parking lot.
