I know I'm opening up a whole big can of worms by asking this so if you have high blood pressure then I suggest you watch yourself before reading on.
I have a '93 300E 2.8 and I'm bored so I figured I would make this my first project. Now I know very little when it comes to engines but all I know is that if I want to put twin turbos on it I either need to rebuild this 214K mile engine or get an entirely different one.
If I can get the money I would like to stay genuine and get a Mercedes engine that would fit without too many problems. I read on some other threads that people recommend going with an M119 engine. I also know that this engine was replaced with the M113 engine and I'm wondering if this will work. Please appreciate my ignorance if the above sounded like the dumbest thing you have ever heard. If it's not then I think I took a step in the forward direction.
By the way, I have a buddy with the equipment to do something of this nature as well as the know how. The only thing is he has not done a Mercedes before which is why I put myself at the mercy of this forum.
