300E project

I know I'm opening up a whole big can of worms by asking this so if you have high blood pressure then I suggest you watch yourself before reading on.

I have a '93 300E 2.8 and I'm bored so I figured I would make this my first project. Now I know very little when it comes to engines but all I know is that if I want to put twin turbos on it I either need to rebuild this 214K mile engine or get an entirely different one.

If I can get the money I would like to stay genuine and get a Mercedes engine that would fit without too many problems. I read on some other threads that people recommend going with an M119 engine. I also know that this engine was replaced with the M113 engine and I'm wondering if this will work. Please appreciate my ignorance if the above sounded like the dumbest thing you have ever heard. If it's not then I think I took a step in the forward direction.

By the way, I have a buddy with the equipment to do something of this nature as well as the know how. The only thing is he has not done a Mercedes before which is why I put myself at the mercy of this forum.

Be patient. I suspect the good (bonehead)doctor will be with you soon.

Why not look for an M104 3.2 six, with all the computers of course, or a V6? All MB and they would fit.

EFI is so much better than CIS-E.

There are so many options to go

I know that there a lot of things I can do, but I'm not too sure about having the same M104 and just going to a 3.2 because my dad had that and he didn't have the kind of seat gripping power that I would like.

On the other hand, I also want something I want something that I can drive everyday and not get horrible gas mileage. That's why when I saw on one of the forums that you should put an M119 motor in, I figured I would put in a newer, more fuel efficient M113.

Thanks a lot for the help, and I don't see this project happening until bad weather has left Chicago so I hope the advice keeps coming!

donor car

I've been doin a lot of searching on this forum and I noticed a common suggestion was to get a C36 donor car to make this 300E into a beast. I was wondering if there are any cars that can also function as a donor car but are perhaps easier to find than a C36 (not to mentioned easier to find one wrecked).

thanks in advance

fastest way to get performance out of a 124 is to get a 400E or 500E (good luck with the latter!)
