first off, always disconnect the ground on your battery when you work on electricals on these cars!
DO you have the owners manual
It should outline your fuses and the purpose of each. YOu can also look in the fuse box and see if any are toast.
Sometimes the underside of the cover has the fuses listed as well.
The fuse box is in the engine compartment.

Also this car will not start in any position but park. Did you "Abuse the shifter" while putting in your CD player? YOu could have bunged up the neutral safety switch, doubtful but possible
The other possibility could be a bad battery, that your short may have pushed over the edge, any other electrical items work>?
