From what I've driven, a 190D 2.5N/A with a manual tranny can keep up with most 300D's on the road in the 15 second 0-60 range A 2.2 is going to be about the same speed as your 240D, mabye a bit faster. The 1987 190D 2.5T was the 2nd fastest production diesel car in the world at the time. '87 300D being #1.

I agree with Deni, don't plan on having room for anybody over 8 years old in the back seats if the front occupants are 5' 9" or taller. With my 6' 4" frame in the front of a 190D, there was about 3" (literally) between the front and rear seats.
