that it had something to do with the tranny shifting. I wonder where I got that from? I guess I won't worry about it disintegrating just by looking at it! I will disconnect it and plug all that was going to it. Thanks for the piece of mind. I figured I had deftly destroyed something vital with my curiosity

Hmmmmm, then why does my tranny shift so hard? It doesn't really bother me but it seems that I shouldn't have to feather the accelerator pedal to up-shift. I don't have to every time but some from 1-2 and more often for the 2-3 and almost never for 3-4. This doesn't seem to be killing it though. I would imagine things have been this way for quite a while, before I got her.
