No vacuum in booster and engine won't stop W124 1992
My car is the following:
124.128
602.962 I5
300D 2.5 Turbo 1992
VIN ends with 560988
First of all, I have to say I have found lot's of information here and done a great deal of preventive maintenance on this car without even posting 1 message on this forum. I have done a complete break job with Brembo disks and Pagid pads + parking brake parts and back end plates from MB, Bilstein front shocks and GY TripleTread tires.
But I am now away from home and stuck with these two-three problems:
1. Engine won't stop after turning key all the way to OFF position. (Yes, I kill it by hand with the IP cut-off)
2. I have no power brake assist from the brake booster. I have unhooked a few vacuum hoses that are attached to that bigger hose running from the vacuum pump (located in the front part of the engine almost lined up with the inj. pump) towards the brake booster. I cannot feel any vacuum at all. Same thing with the EGR valve, no vacuum felt once the tubing is removed from the actuator (although this may be normal?). I can't hear any major vacuum loss from a leaking hose.
3. I feel much harder shifts in the transmission and that concerns me about damaging anything... am actually wondering if returning home with the car will be ok?
I have called the local MB dealer and they don't carry the vacuum pump in inventory. Listed at 818$ CA! No other MB dealer seems to have one in Canada. I am now in Qc City btw and usually in the Montreal area.
Any help or clues will be deeply appreciated! Are there repair kits for these pumps, in case that's the problem?
I will try the search button a little more later on and stay in a hotel for the night. I'll try mbbraingears.com as well.
Many thanks in advance,
Bye,
