i have gone through countless numbers of belts with my 75 240D. i am constently buying new ones. When we put then on, they arent too tight or too loose. i have tried buying the higher quality belts too.

here is what we think to be the problem... the alternator seems to be pushed forward a little bit, which is causing the alternator belt to be on an angle, which could very well be causing the shredding. if that were the problem, how should we go about fixing it?

are there any other ideas as to what could be causing so many shredded belts? any info is greatly appriciated. thanks!
