OK here in Northern NJ, but about 3 weeks ago, our signal suddenly wasn't strong enough for the cable modem, but fine for the TV.
Granted, the PO of our house split the cable coming into the house so every bedroom had cable, but it had been fine.
Modem appeared to be OK, since we swapped out with a neighbors to test. So, we called them in, even if there was a chance we had to pay. The cable guy ended up running new cable from the contact point to the house, split to 1)my office and 2)the rest of the house as opposed to split all around the house and my office being a branch of that mess. He also replaced the old little white modem with a new one. Big and black, just how I like my modems.

Since I helped him run the cable, he didn't charge us, though for what he did, he could have easily.
