96 thru 99 E-300 are great cars. The engine and streamline body style provide some excellent fuel economy....probably the best of any heavy 4 door sedan. 96 and 97 are non-turbo, 98 and 99 are turbo'd. I've driven both and found the turbo versions more suited for all the highway driving I do. They just pull better....feel more lively with a load in the trunk.
