Anyway, a brief but serious response -- gratification means very different things at different stages of our life. Did you see the man in Sedona interviewed on TV who had lost his home to fire a couple weeks ago? His was the only home lost. He considered the event a blessing, as it relieved him of all of his material encumbrances. Of course, it didn't hurt that it was an expensive home and doubtlessly well-insured. Still, I was struck by his calm and his disposition so soon after what most of us would consider a terrible tragedy.
