I think the deal with ballancing the flywheel to crankshaft, pistons and rods is longevity issue. One of the reasons a factory shortblock can last 350k+ miles while you might get 180k out of a rebuild. And regarding torque specs, 50 lbs with one small drop of locktite should be fine.
