Upon review of my almost completly worthless Haynes manual, chapter 10, page 179....tells us not a dadgum thing...I hate this book....worthless as tits ona boar hog!

Howsomever, it did have a good picture and it sure looks like you could move the lever....looks like it is just a clamp type conection. BTW, I haven't read or heard any thing about NOT adjusting the lever's position. Try it..you can always move it back.

Now when you remove the link and manually move the lever, it works right?? Which way do you move it to go up? Haven't fooled with mine yet (it works so I ain't gonna fix it).
