Seems like you move the lever up and the car goes up. Definitely shorten the linkage to make it rise, so I assume down is up. Clear as mud?
It does seems easy to move the clamping assy to change geometry, but I don't understand why I've always heard not to do that. I guess if I do I will mark the position carefully prior to beginning.
If your's is working, don't even let it see you looking under there.....
