manual transmission oil

I ordered from MB web site, a 1981 owner's manual.

for a manual transmission the capacity is 2.7 US pt, or 1.3 l
they recommend Engine Oil SAE 10W/20 or W-20

for the automatic - 5 US qt ATF Automatic Transmission.

But, I have seen other threads and others also say to use ATF in a manual transmission. Not sure what I will do when it comes time to change mine. I had the shop ( none MB, but works specialists on MB) to change the transmission and rear end for me. Normally I change my own, but just getting old and lazy.

The rear end, according to the book, 2.1 US pt and hypoid gear oil SAE 90, or 85W/90
