New to the forum and need help... I have a 1987 190d 2.5 turbo that won't shift into high gear. I can drive it in '3' position, but if I start off in 'D' it goes through two gears and then when it shifts to high it's like neutral... the engine just races.
I tried a can of 'Trans X' to no avail. Currently I am replacing the filter on the off chance that might help, but I'm beginning to think it may need more some serious work or even a replacement transmission.
The trans is a 722.413 model. Can anyone tell me what I need to look for in a used transmission? Will any of the 722. model transmissions fit, or will I need to find that specific number? Thanks for help or advice. Steve.
