The starter is quite a chore to remove. On my 560SEL, what I had to do was to drop the muffler system and then then take some shield out of the way. This was the only way I could have clearance to remove my starter. Just a heads up, make sure you have a compressor and gun because its a ***** removing them bolts by hand!
