Sounds like a bad fan clutch to me.< edit: Disregard this.
Edit:> is it covered with grease? How bot the radiator... covered with grese? ... could be leaking clutch fluid.
I have only had mine off when the bearing bracket went and it basicly fell out of the car before disassembly... I am currently replacing a radiator (+ t-stat, hoses, and resealing the aux water pump) and resealing the upper timing chain cover (behind the distributor) and Valve cover gasket so I may be replacing mine shortly if it continues to not function...
