I've had my share of similar situations with the ferry. Fortunately, mine is far more powerful, and much smaller and lighter than the ferry indicated in the clip.

The problem is judgment on the part of the operator in the smaller boat. They make a decision to avoid the larger boat but don't have a clue of distance and speed. They are sure that their decision is correct but, once they make it, they have no other option.

I had a medium sized cruiser decide that he must turn in front of the ferry to head down the channel back to Bay Shore. He disappeared under the bow (we're doing 19 kts.) as I grabbed all three throttles and pulled them to neutral. Fortunately missed the stupid SOB by a couple of feet (I'm guessing).

Then I went and got a new pair of shorts...........
