I don't have a W126, but on a W123 I would disconnect the regulator from the door frame, than lower the entire unit to see if you can reach the bolt that connects the regulator to the bottom of the window. You shouldn't have to remove the glass, just prop it up inside the door until you are ready to install the regulator again.
