I was able to access it via the first aid kit opening into the trunk, and by using a 6 ft long furring strip to push on the rod and opened the trunk. Yea! Apparently that rod was hung up on the sheet metal and that's why the vacuuum wouldn't unlock it. Now I can take the lock out and make a key for it myself. I am glad I didn't drill it out and ruin it. I did call a locksmith and the cheapest I was quoted was $140 to make a key by impression.
Anyone have a key blank for the trunk lock? Please email or pm me.
