Do you really need to bleed the system?

After changing fuel filters on the 300SDL, I used to floor the accelerator and crank the engine. It took about ten seconds but always started. Keep it floored and it will eventually start.

I suspect most of that delay was filling up the large (spin-on) fuel filter with diesel.

Of course, this was a standard OM603 which ran on diesel not WVO. Not sure how much extra you've plumbed into the stock system.
