96 E300D, 171k mi. While I was driving yesterday, my muffler fell off! It seems to have rusted through where the pipe inlets to the muffler. The actual muffler looks fine, but when i called a shop (indy) to see how much it would be to weld it back on, he said $750.
I guess mercedes makes these as one long piece with 2 mufflers on it. One towards the middle of the car and one at the end. I was hoping that they could just replace some of the piping and weld the existing muffler back on.
