Ah yes, we've all done it. And it's fun (if you dont get hurt). I remember driving through the mud in the field behind my house in the old F150 when I was about 14 or 15. Rainy day, bored off my ass, took the truck out for fun. Didn't hit anything - but the next time I went to start it, the engine was seized up! Looked below it - huge hole in the oil pan. Oil and coolant all over. It was a beater that we used for firewood, and we got $300 when we junked it - and got a roadworthy replacement for $400 so it worked out well - but it was fun as hell, flying over those bumps at speed!

I think that it threw a rod when I shut the engine off. It had been tapping QUITE loudly for about 10 miles (or 30 trips around the yard) before that.
