Nope, I cannot claim anything in Dunn County, it'd cost too much in gas to drive the POS over there... This was up by the Chippewa Vally Regional Airport...

Skid marks are gone, but the dent, leaves, and dirt are still on the truck... And, there's a dead tree that I snapped.

My english teacher commented about some deep skid marks by his house on friday... he said "I hope it hurt, dumb kids" I asked where he lived, he said by the airport... I immediatly burst out laughing. I then said "Mr. Door, your right, it did hurt"

He glared at me for a while, then asked if my car was ok
Dumbass teacher... I hate him:fork_off:

Merry Christmas

Nate, stop fricking around. And if you're not wearing a seat belt, consider yourself grounded for a month.

Just cause I was wearing the belt doesnt mean It's going to keep me from moving sideways and forward a foot or so into the piller...

The lady asked if I was, and if the airbags went off. I chuckled and said it doesnt have airbags, but I did wear my belt...

She mumbled something about manditory equpment, and I said it's a 24 year old f150...

she left the room afterwords, and the other doc (really hot mid 20's girl ) did the checkup stuff...

Kinda wanted to go back afterwords so I could see her again... of course only if I required medical attention, I'd never CONSIDER seeing a doctor cause she's good looking (even in scrubs? doc uniform)

Exclamation *** To "Belt" or not to "Belt," that is the question... ***

Dont' get this post wrong...

Back in '83, I had a head-on w/a Nissan B210 on Hwy 51, just north of Normal, IL. (Joke: Why do all the idiots live in Bloomington? It's as close to Normal as they can get!) with my FIAT 128 Sport Coupe.

I had just bought the car from an SCCA racer/mechanic - this thing had a bucket seat in it that just "sucked" you down into it...it held you in place almost as if you had been covered from head to toe w/velcro.

Anyways, the best that anyone could determine was that both vehicles had hit mid-grill, on the drivers' side ... because of the road conditions - the cars hit, then spun 180° and separated. On my 128, the battery ended up about 1 foot from my face, spilling its contents onto me (this was after the windshield had popped out from the initial contact.). I had the steering wheel jammed into my chest, where the column contacted me about mid-sternum and the upper-part of the steering wheel smashed into my upper-lip (just below my nose), causing my skull to fracture in a way that both eye-sockets were fractured. My lower jaw remained intack, so it was used as support to re-align my face when I was "wired up" in the ER.

The point?

Had I buckled up (As I should have.), I wouldn't be here. The doctor told me that if I hadn't "lifted" up out of the seat as much as I did, the steering wheel and column would have killed me by fracturing my neck and forehead. I would have "swung" downward into the wheel instead of up and into it the way I did.

Does that mean that I don't buckle up now?

Nope - I buckle up all the time. Just once I was FR***ing LUCKY!

As it is now, I've got stainless steel wiring in my face to this day (X-ray shots are pretty freaky! I'm always asked to explain what's going on!)

Since that day - I've seen too many accidents where the results are as expected w/and w/o belts. My experience was just plain dumb, freakish luck on my part.

Wear your belts. Everyone will be glad you did.

Ah yes, we've all done it. And it's fun (if you dont get hurt). I remember driving through the mud in the field behind my house in the old F150 when I was about 14 or 15. Rainy day, bored off my ass, took the truck out for fun. Didn't hit anything - but the next time I went to start it, the engine was seized up! Looked below it - huge hole in the oil pan. Oil and coolant all over. It was a beater that we used for firewood, and we got $300 when we junked it - and got a roadworthy replacement for $400 so it worked out well - but it was fun as hell, flying over those bumps at speed!

I think that it threw a rod when I shut the engine off. It had been tapping QUITE loudly for about 10 miles (or 30 trips around the yard) before that.
