WVOtoGO, I think I know what you mean. Wal-Mart's Data Processing Center in Arkansas just e-mailed me with a list of IT positions, none of which I'm qualified for (!).
My degree is in computer information systems, and I worked in the field as a programmer, systems analyst, and technical writer from 1995-2001. The bottom fell out of that, and I went back to my old homeland, New Orleans, and wound up as the Executive Secretary (read: "office manager") of one of the academic departments at a large private university. I use my computer background (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, FireWorks) very heavily to organize the department's work.
