Basically, it lets you call in and set the temp for a property before you get there.

Great if you have a ski place or something -- keep it around 45 when you're not there so the pipes don't freeze, and then call it before you leave -- and it is warm and toasty when you get there. Especially good for unplanned trips when "setting" the t-stat doesn't work out.
