Raise the car up and look where the leading edge, in this case the inner edge of the left wheel goes when you turn the wheel. Look for any rub marks. Also look at both side walls on the tires and look for scuffing.

Then check the outer edge of the wheel where is gets close to when you turn.

Because the car will be raised up, the part that is being rubbed may or may not come in contact at that time, but you can see the areas that the tire is getting close to.

I put bigger wheels and tires on my 4x4 and had this happen. It rubbed only when backing up since the geometry changes a bit due the direction change.
It was a small piece of plastic in the fenderwell, so I just trimmed it back.
