update: my little gear (12 tooth) as arrived and I have already installed it. It was very straight forward installation. I have cut off the old plastic gear with a wire cutter ( just be carefull). The new gear has a smaller hole so either you have to re-drill it or take off the brass step-up insert ring from the rod. Me myself I took off the brass step-up insert ring from the rod. My odometer now is perfect working order. Just a note: before you unplug the wire harness from instrument cluster disconnect the negative cable from the battery. I learned that the hard way... I have managed to short it out the negative circuit on the odometer circuit board... so I had to bridged it with a wire... good luck
