Hey remote,

Since I spend a good 5-6 months driving in snow up here in Canada, I always use snow tires, and good ones with significant tread left (forget about the wear marks, IMO).

Nokians are apparently excellent though I have never tried them. Their price tag seems to parallel this reputation however.

I have been using Toyo Observe winter tires for several years now and I really like them. Excellent grip, wear and performance.

They are generally priced around the same as the comparable Michelin tire (X-Ice, etc.).
