I don't think the CAT filter will even fit (physically). It certainly won't fit on a 606 motor, not even close. The MB spin-on fuel filter is very good to begin with, and not very costly anyways, so the benefit of the CAT just isn't there on an MB.
I'm using one on my '96 Passat TDI.
