I think this is where the problem lies. He got his wheels back (as I don't think the perp removed the tires and left the bare rims behind
), what was the point of shooting a running man who didn't pose any danger? He left his car behind, the cops would have picked him up in a flash anyway. Whatever damage, if any, he may have caused to the Benz would have been covered by insurance. So yes, some jail time is warranted.
