I am confused by your use of the term "oxidized".

Disuse of electrical components does not fall prey to oxidation...environmental exposure does. Has the component in question been sitting in a damp cellar, outdoors, or perhaps, a very dusty attic?

Otherwise, what you are likely to experience, are intermittent operation of certain switches and knobs...like "crackling", when you twist the volume control.

Electrical contact cleaner (available at Radio Shack or other electronics parts stores) can remedy this. Comes in a aerosol can with a thin plastic tube attached to the nozzle to aim at small areas.
