Perhaps so, but all Mercedes I've owned have never complained or let me down because I changed the oil too frequently; and, if I remember correctly, there was a very big court case and settlement on engine problems because owners did follow the original - now changed - MB recommendations.

That factory supplied "breakin" oil is the same oil that is recommended for routine oil changes.
