For a W123, in basically a parts car condition only good for a motor and trans as you have described it, thats about all it's worth. I got my 80 for free, even came with another engine (rusty body, had blown engine), I paid $100 for my 82, which had an excellent body needing only paint due to checking, running engine, new battery, new tires, rare Sienna interior, and bad trans.

If you were to remove certain parts, such as the 4spd stuff or running engine, they could be sold for more and worth more, but as we all know, as a whole parts car they don't have the value. That's just the nature of the beast, ask most of the folks that deal with the stuff, they'll agree, that's a tall price for a beat up worn out parts car.
But a very cheap price for an excellent motor if it checks out.
