If there is one thing you would fix on your W123 300D, you would .....

I spent all winter replacing every gasket on my engine's oil system and transmission, including the waffle gasket on the oil tower and now I haven't had a leak or a drop for the last three months!!!!

Now ,I would rebuild my entire vacuum hose system from the pump to the back of the car, because its only good for 2 or 3 key cycles or at most a day or two before the vacuum leaks out. I have a strong belief that most vacuum leaks are in the engine compartment....

Finally, the other thing I would do is lift the dash and find my leaking diaphragm...I think the major vacuum hose that connects to climate control in your engine compartment--the green line-- is supposed to hold a vacuum and mine doesnt, and I capped it. Because of that, my HVAC system is stuck at defrost.

Then I would be happy!

But if I found the time.... I would rip up the floor insulation because after a while it holds moisture and promotes rust.

For giggles I would rebuild the AC head to toe with new hoses and orings recharge the AC per Diesel Gaint specs and flush it so that it was even colder than a 1985 fresh off the floor. Mine just has too much oil in it which is messing up the freon effieciency but it sure the hell does promote compressor life. Mine is cold but I want it to be super Cold!!!

The last thing is I want the cruise control working perfectly. I need a new switch. Thats it!

On the other, if I had nothing to do, I would probably steam clean the engine.

The last thing I would do is repaint the passenger side door because thats the only one where it doesnt look showrrom sharp.

Thats about it.

Oh yeah if I found the time I would raise the car on jackstands and detail the undercarriage and clean all the surfaces with a pressure washer so that the car when on a Lift would awe people.

Then i would be finally done.

Of course that doesnt include my plan to rip out that annoying Sony stereo and put in a Blaupunkt circa 1985 for true authenticity.

Then I would be really happy.

But if I did the Blaupunkt, I would open up my Hirschmann and rebuild that and clean it.......

But you know I sure good use a good wax job....

I wouldn't waste the time. I just remembered I never did find a replacement bulb for the center console light and I am using a jury rig to light it up until I find the right one. Thats just a small point because i just remembered i promised myself to rebuild my spare steering gear box right down to the Gears!!

Not too mention that I need Brake Dust covers for the rear tires also. ( Ihave them on the fronts!) They make my powder coated tires look fabulous.

Well that should do it.....

he heh except that I found two brand new rubber pucks for my drive shaft for free at a Yard and I want to put them in, no rush, just as longs as I get them done next weekend.....
