It improved a lot almost immediately though it's begun to recur, though not as bad.

Dr.Weil.com says steroid injections into the sheath can help though he says he'd avoid it if possible. Also says DMSO might help, I used that in the past, results inconclusive, will try it again.

On your own, you shouldn't go more than 800mg 3 times. However, under a doctor's care you can go to 3.2grams. If you are worried about cost, take a few more 200mg tablets.
It will take a while before it is gone. Just because it stops hurting doesn't mean it is fine. Gotta take it for way more than a couple of pain free days.
Fine. But in the meantime, don't lessen the dose otherwise the inflammation will be worse.
