My ac has been dead forever (and parts are missing, and I don't care, so it is never coming back).

I have weird squeaking/squealing goin on, and was going to remove belts, one at a time, to try to figure out if I am going to lose an alternator or PS bearing or something soon.

That ac belt just sits there soaking up space. Does it eat HP too? Is there a reason (tension on the pully or something) to keep it on, or would you recommend I just remove it?
