Mine is the same black as my hood paint, you release the one on the drivers side first and raise it an inch or so and then you have to go release the passenger side one in order to stand the hood up.

You only have to release the one on the drivers side in order to lower it again. Remember when jacking the car in a low ceiling garage that it's vertical, and remember when leaving it outdoors in high wind that the hinges can bend.

Does anybody know why these hoods go vertical? I have two theories - one is that it was a provision for engine cranes to perform engine swaps. My second theory - and the reason I use it - is that it was put there to stop me from banging my head on the grille... again... and again...
