I finally worked on this problem earlier today. I removed the belt and ran the engine ..... no noise ..... so the problem is with the belt and pulley system. With the belt off, I spun each pulley and they all appeared to be clean and they all turned true without any squeeking noise. I then replaced the Contitech belt with a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I have used Gatorback's on my Jeeps and they have worked well in that role. The Gatorback with its segmented ribs is susposeately designed to be quieter than standard belts. I put everything back together and it runs like a charm with no noise whatsoever. Perhaps the American Goodyear product is truely superior. Has anyone else had experience with Gatorbacks? Any thoughts on using Goodyear belts?
