Certianly in this country long distance, IE across country is foolish. Rail is a much better solution.

Used to be, maybe back around WWII, that one could ship personal goods by rail.
And lately, I've been seeing TV ads touting rail transport.
But have you ever tried to get something shipped by rail? If you aren't GE or GM, they aren't interested.
In August 1997, I tried to get a car shipped from Oklahoma City to Alexandria Virginia. When I called the local rail depot, they all but laughed at me and told me to hire a truck! I flew back home, returned with my tow-dolly and towed the car back myself.
