The Metal Ready is a rust neutralizer and it dries with a zinc phosphate coating that helps the rust preventative paint adhere. I wouldn't expect the rust to stay gone without using it.

Do you know if the Metal Ready is part of the kit for brakes? I'm guessing it is, but haven't ordered any yet. I have to find somewhere flat to park the car and jack it up before I can do that.
