Now we should stop at some bridges and jump up and down on them to see if they are going to collapse. We no longer invest in our infrastructure and created jobs we hand out checks.
Three or four decades of ignoring our needs is now going to bite us in the behind.
Say, that is about the same amount of time since the introduction of the professional politician and our allowing the government to be controlled by special interests and their pet projects.
At least my pet project will return an investment to the rest of the country.

S'funny how the Norquist-ians go on about how 'the purpose of govt. is to cut taxes,' actually, the purpose of govt. is to RAISE taxes, not as in make them higher, but raise them, as in collect them. Such as, a group of homesteaders in Wyoming decide to have a school for their young-uns, they come together and decide how much monies to devote to that. At some point, contributing to that fund becomes a requirement for living in the community.
Imagine every single road and byway a toll road, with various exorbitant tolls and eccentric reasons for denying access to some. Oh yeah, that'd be nifty.
