I've tried double-sided foam tape - worthless! Even on clean surfaces it falls off once the interior heats up.
Otherwise, I think that prepping the surfaces is as important as the type of adhesive.
Having to painstakingly scrape off the gummy remains of the old glue from the wood and metal backing (I'm reluctant to try solvents and risk damaging wood finish or dash plastic) has deterred me from refastening some loose wood on my 240D.
Or if someone can suggest an adhesive that will combine with the old glue for a reliable repair.
