Rust.

That is a classic example of why I dump out my fuel filter every oil change, just to see what's in there. I don't normally replace filters until 25k, but I want to know what's in there on an ongoing basis.

People who don't replace filters until the car quits running are very foolish, in my opinion. (Sorry PEH)
