Thanks guys. What a mess. I tried to just put a small rubber hose on end of broken line and plug it off with a screw. That worked until about 1100rpm, at which point the screw and 200psi of hot diesel shot out into the front window of autozone like a diesel mazel tof cocktail. Gave up and drove rest of way home (30 miles) squirting $4.50/gal diesel out the #4 hard line (thinking to self whole time, dont I make more $ than this?). Guess my engine needed a clean anyways ...
So the benz will sit inthe garage smelling like someone knifed the bottom of dino tank until tues, at which point the new hardline gets here from a nashville dealer. These things are hard to find. The dealer in Atlanta said they dont make them anymore, and "Germany would have to build 1 specially for me". Ebay came up nil too.
Note to self : buy a 617 next time. 1st wrecker yard I went to had 3 123's, 1 of them had the hard lines already disconnected and sitting on top of head. Nada 124 diesels (plenty of gassers tho).
I will be damn sure to reconnect the new line with the clips, properly. I think I had it in there crooked from 1 of my many hack attempts at R&R the glows taking off the stupid intake mani (see 617 note x 2)
Call Enterprise?? Hahaha. I am smarter than to count on this as my ONLY car. Time to throw battery charger on track Corrado and figure out how to jam kids car seats in back.
