From what I can tell just by reading the shop manual, it is theoretically possible. They have you remove the engine and the oil pump (which means you have removed the oil pan and windage tray), and then push the piston out the top.
Removing the oil pan, pump and tray is possible with the engine in the car, but it looks like a pita.
