Some time after my lil' bro moved down to Pensacola, they had some sort of freaky snow...and apparently it was cool enough they were experiencing icy intersections and the like...
Being from the nort' he had a clue as to how to drive in the stuff, but he had to call me to tell me about two folks he watched try to leave an intersection as if everything was normal...they spun their tires to the point that they overheated and exploded off the rims...one tire actually started on fire and the car ended up being a total loss...they couldn't get the fire truck to the scene fast enough because of the icing and such...
I don't see much difference up here during the first/second snow of the season...everyone has a learning curve they have to negotiate and it turns out that regardless where you live...there's always going to be someone that does not have the slightest inkling of a clue as to what to do...
I like to think that I'm smart enough to be off the streets during those periods...but, duty calls and I get to drive through the best of times and the worst of times...I just hope I don't get to BE those times.
