I would do the regulator first as well. I think I paid $15 for it at the MB dealer. I got two of them at that time.

If you have to replace the alternator, go for the AL129x 115 Amp one. It is a very easy upgrade and make a ton of difference! I do not see the reason to replace an understrength 65A alternator with more understrength garbage...

You can look on ebay for one like I did, go to the bone yard and look at late 1980's Saabs, or probabaly the AutoZoo can get one for you.
